Hubby took a day off to trek the KTM railway track, starting from Bukit Timah Railway Station all the way to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. The total distance covered was 10 km! This is one of hubby’s favorite breakfasts — fried bee hoon with the works. Not very healthy, but certainly very hearty and satisfying! A great way to chase away the Monday morning blues and to kick-start the beginning of a long work week! P.S. Bought this from a stall in our neighborhood coffeeshop.

How many of you still buy these old-school buns? Compared to fancy breads and buns from chain bakeries, Japanese-style boulangeries, and European artisan bread shops, these old-fashioned buns sold in heartland bakeries seem very unsophisticated. But still, we like them!

Today’s breakfast was at this quaint hidden cafe in Robertson Quay that’s garnered several rave reviews on local food blogs and magazines. The menu is small but down-to-earth. Think expresso-based beverages, gourmet Gryphon teas, simple sandwiches, and homemade cakes and muffins.
