I was invited by Concorde Hotel, Singapore, to preview their Lunar New Year reunion dinner buffet offerings. This was my first lo-hei (which is 捞起 in Cantonese) of the year, and I must say I really liked it. This Peranakan-style yu sheng is a new dish created by Baba Jolly. If you remember, I blogged [...]

Happy 2010, everyone! Hope you all had a great start to the new year! Regrettably, I missed posting on the first day of the year, cos I was sick in bed. But my appetite’s coming back now. 2009 was a year of wonderful foodie finds and new makan kakis. Let’s keep them coming in 2010! [...]

Imperial Treasure is a well-known chain of Chinese restaurants in Singapore. This is their flagship outlet, which specializes in fine-dining Cantonese cuisine. In the few times I’ve been here, I’ve always been impressed by the caliber and consistent standard of their cooking. In fact, I’d say what they serve here is as good as what [...]

The newly refurbished Maxwell Chambers, which is located next to Tanjong Pagar MRT (and near hubby’s office), houses a number of new F&B outlets. When we were there about three weeks ago, not all were opened yet. Among those already in operation is Funan Weng, which specializes in Ipoh hor fun.

Remember how much I was raving about Putien? Heh, I couldn’t get it out of my head, so when I was at Vivocity this week for some shopping, I had to return to Putien! As I was alone, and wasn’t very hungry, I didn’t order any noodles or rice. Since I love duck and yam, [...]

Pu Tien Restaurant (Vivocity)

After the previous night’s not-so-satisfying dinner, tonight’s dinner was like manna from heaven! Well, ok, maybe exaggerating a little, but we really enjoyed every dish we ate! Putien makes their own tofu. Fresh, firm but super smooth, the tofu was divine! The tasty brown gravy was of the right consistency: not too thick but sticky [...]

This place really doesn’t need any more endorsement; it’s filled to full capacity nearly all the time, so much so that they have a queue number system! It was only 12pm on Saturday, and already, the restaurant was full. But we didn’t mind waiting as we were first in the queue.
