Media event: An Exquisite Afternoon Tea Experience with Master Patissier Eric Lanlard @ The St. Regis Singapore

Two-time winner of the British Baking Awards’ Continental Patissier of the Year, TV presenter, and founder of acclaimed cake emporium and cookery school Cake Boy in London, Eric Lanlard is a legend to baking aficionados around the world. He has created celebration cakes for A-list celebrities like Madonna, Elizabeth Hurley, David and Victoria Beckham, and the British royal family.

Now based in London, the native French started training to be a pastry chef at the age of 18. Having been in the business for 30 years, he has since published eight cookbooks, including his latest book Eric Lanlard’s Afternoon Tea. The book contains 90 recipes of both savoury and sweet afternoon tea treats.

For just one week from 3rd to 8th January 2017, the St. Regis Singapore presents an exclusive Afternoon Tea experience featuring creations from chef Eric Lanlard’s Afternoon Tea book. At a media event, we got to meet Chef Eric Lanlard in person where he shared with us inspiring stories about his culinary journey, including his time as an apprentice pastry chef in France.

Afternoon tea consists of a buffet spread of Chef Lanlard’s savoury and sweet creations. Here are some of the highlights:

The buffet also includes items like cold cuts, sushi, cheeses, chocolate fountain, and ice creams, accompanied by a variety of TWG teas to choose from.

My favourite part of the afternoon tea is the three-tiered silver stand.

Top tier: Raspberry Choux Craqueline Buns; Pistachio & Rose Financiers; and Tartelettes aux Fruits

Middle tier: Tartes Flambees; and Brie & Onion Marmalade Gruyere Eclairs

Bottom tier: Cacao Beef with Pain Perdu; Egg Florentine Roulade; and Lemon Macarons with Smoked Salmon

Chef Lanlard also conducted a short hands-on cake decorating session. He frosted a beautiful Strawberry Ombre Cake effortlessly in less than two minutes! After that, all of us got the chance to decorate our own cake.
