It was mom-in-law’s birthday this month. She wanted to eat Western food, so we took her to Tony Roma’s. Come to think of it, we’ve not been back to Tony Roma’s for some years. I’ve always enjoyed their ribs and onion loaf, so I was really looking forward to this meal.
The baked potato soup was creamy thick (perhaps a bit too thick) with chunky pieces of potato. But it was hearty and tasty, especially with those bacon bits on top.
The onion loaf was still as good as before. This was easily the best dish of the meal.
We were quite disappointed with the Carolina Honey ribs and BBQ chicken. One word to describe them — DRY. This was such a letdown as I remember Tony Roma’s ribs to be tender and moist.
Thankfully, the fried shrimp was properly executed and the corn cobs were juicy sweet.
The crumbed fish fillets were also rather dry.
Overall, the food was less than impressive. However, the service level was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when assisting us with the birthday cake we had brought. They also provided colouring sheets and crayons for the kids.
Sorry, I didn’t take down the prices for each individual dish. The total cost of this meal came up to about S$120 after taxes.
