Culinary Getaway in Tweed, Australia 2014: Breakfast at Kettles On Cafe, Kingscliff

Our Scoot flight landed in Gold Coast early on Saturday morning, about 8am. After clearing immigration, we were met by our friendly host Jayne of Aria Events & Entertainment. Naturally, the first thing we needed was breakfast. And there’s nothing like a hearty Aussie-style cafe breakfast to start the day!

Jayne drove us to Kingscliff, a coastal town that is a popular destination for beach holiday goers. Its main street Marine Parade — a long stretch that runs parallel to the beach and sea — houses several shops, cafes, restaurants, and accommodation.

Kettles On Cafe is relatively new, but they have already established themselves as one of the best cafes in Kingscliff. They are rated number 1 of 40 restaurants in Kingscliff on Tripadvisor.

I had a flat white, which I really enjoyed. The coffee was smooth, strong, with great balance of flavors.

Our group was famished, so I quickly took one snap each of everyone’s breakfast.

The roast pork belly with red cabbage slaw and braised lentils was spectacular!

I had eggs Benedict with bacon and mushrooms.

My dish was nothing fancy, but it was superbly executed. Look at the orangey egg yolk lava! #eggporn

Breezy ambience, helpful staff, good food and coffee at reasonable prices, I’d definitely head back to Kettles On Cafe if I’m in Kingscliff again.
