Many Singaporeans are familiar with Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast in Australia. But have you heard of Tweed? Located in northern New South Wales — just a little south of the Queensland border — the Tweed Shire is home to lush green fields, unspoilt beaches, stunning mountain ranges, and the magnificent Mount Warning. The beautiful, tranquil Tweed Valley is just about 45 minutes drive from the glitzy bustle of Surfer’s Paradise.
The most convenient way to get to Tweed is via Gold Coast Aiport, which is only about 15 minutes drive away.
Currently, only Scoot airlines flies DIRECT from Singapore Changi Airport to Gold Coast Airport. The flight time is approximately 7 hours 25 minutes.
This was my first time flying Scoot, and I must say that the seats are very spacious for a low-cost carrier.
If you are not flying with children below the age of 12, I highly recommend that you book the Scoot In Silence seats. For a small fee, you get extra LEG ROOM as well as quiet and privacy in a separate cabin (rows 21 to 25), essential if you need to catch up on sleep or work.
As with all low-cost carriers, inflight meals have to be purchased separately. Scoot has expanded their inflight meal menu, and there is a wide selection of premium meals, hot meals, light meals, snacks, and beverages to choose from.
I had the Hearty Beef Stew combo meal, which includes a can of Coke or green tea as well as Toblerone.
The stew was a little on the salty and greasy side. It would have been nice to have a bread bun to mop up the gravy.
If you’re feeling peckish, you can purchase a Scoot Snack Pack which includes the above munchies. The items might vary from time to time.
We departed Singapore Changi Airport at 10:25PM, and arrived in Gold Coast Airport at 7:50AM the next morning. This was the view of the beautiful beach and sea as our plane was descending. Finally! So excited, can’t wait for our Tweed adventure to begin!
