I’m not a big fan of rojak, maybe because most are pretty average and fail to tempt me. But when I see a good rojak stall, I simply can’t resist! That’s what happened when I went to Old Airport Road the other day (actually to review another stall).
This famous stall is now run by the second generation son-in-law. His standard is close to his father-in-law’s, and definitely much better than most average stalls.
Some people complain that the rojak sauce is too sweet. But I like its robust sweet and sour flavors, as well as the rich prawn paste sauce that’s thick but not cloying.
The you tiao (doughsticks) are freshly toasted before being tossed into the salad bowl, and the entire dish is generously sprinkled with fragrant crushed peanut. Best eaten immediately on the spot!
