Mother’s Day 2014 brunch at The Knolls, Capella Singapore

Planning a special thank you for the most important woman in your life? How about a luxurious champagne brunch for your mom at The Knolls, Capella? We experienced Sunday brunch at The Knolls over the weekend, and it was indeed a feast for both the senses and the palate.

As The Knolls is a Mediterranean restaurant, Mother’s Day brunch will be a Mediterranean inspired affair with a spring floral theme.

Starting the buffet spread with appetizers, these whimsical foie gras lollipops will surely tempt you into grabbing one.

Classic Mediterranean style seafood casserole, featuring fresh prawns, squid, clams, and mussels.

One of the highlights of this brunch is the slow-roasted Dutch milk-fed veal chops. This was really good. The meat is supremely juicy and tender with good bite.

Mini beef sliders — one of the more popular items at this brunch.

The sausages and grilled lamb chops are also must-tries.

Another seasonal item — the spring vegetable tart, made with extra virgin olive oil.

The cheese trolley — a small but good selection of mostly French cheeses. I particularly enjoyed the Reblochon, a soft cheese that tastes quite similar to Brie.

If you opt for the alcoholic option, enjoy free-flow Tattinger champagne — both white and rose. There’s also Prosecco, white and red wines.

The mains were very filling, but I made sure to reserve some tummy space for dessert.

The cakes and pastries selection at The Knolls is truly a spectacular spread.

Continuing with the floral theme, the cakes and pastries each feature a unique flower.

Rose & Raspberry Opera — a floral and fruity version instead of the usual chocolate opera.

The fragrant Coconut Panna Cotta with Hibiscus Jelly (top shelf in pic) is another delightful creation, this time with an Asian influence.

Jasmine & white chocolate cake. Really delightful, I liked this very much.

Another exquisite floral cake (which I can’t remember cos there are too many wonderful pastries to try!).

There’s also a live station that makes fresh crepes. I had mine with hazelnut gelato and the works.

Next to the crepe station is the gelato stand with four kinds of flavors — vanilla, strawberry, hazelnut, and bitter chocolate.

Actually, all the staff at The Knolls are very friendly and helpful. Even Executive Chef David Senia went to every table personally to take care of his guests. We were made to feel really welcome.
