Hubby and I were invited to Da Paolo PizzaBar to try out their new brunch menu. Nestled in the leafy neighborhood of Jalan Merah Saga away from the bustle of Holland Village, Da Paolo PizzaBar is a pleasant laidback venue to kickstart the weekend.
We ordered two salads and two breakfast mains. Both of us loved the fruity Berry Merry salad. There’s salad leaves, berries, grapes, dried figs, walnuts, and creamy gorgonzola dressing with raspberry vinaigrette presented in a crisp crepe bowl.
This sweet, tangy, crunchy, leafy, and cheesy ensemble is a splendid combination of flavors and textures.
Cowpaccio is a cute twist on the main ingredient of this salad — beef carpaccio. Perhaps I’m not quite a fan of raw beef and bitter rocket leaves, so I wasn’t so impressed with this dish. But hubby liked it.
Popeye’s Breakfast is one of the recommended items. Spinach & parmesan scrambled eggs, portobello mushroom, pumpkin hashbrown.
I was envisioning a thick, juicy piece of portobello mushroom, but it was thin and dry. The scrambled egg was quite bland and firm. The only thing I liked was the sweet pumpkin hashbrown.
Thank goodness the Royale Stack saved the day. Perfectly poached egg, savoury smoked salmon, creamy avocado, and homemade hashbrown — this was really yummy!
Too full for desserts, we rounded off brunch with lattes. These Italian lattes aren’t as robust as I normally prefer, but they are smooth, milky, and nicely balanced.
