This stall is one of the ailing businesses rescued and revived on the ratings hit Channel 8 series Buzzing Cashier. We happened to be at Tiong Bahru food centre for Sunday dinner, so thought I’d find out if the “rescued” pork rib prawn noodle lives up to its TV hype.
Ended up queuing 20 minutes for this bowl of noodles. Here’s the lowdown:
The good: Delicate, light sweet broth, not laced with MSG. Very tender, meaty ribs. Prawns are fresh. Meticulously peeled, leaving the heads and tail for presentation.
The not so good: Broth a bit weak. Could do with a more robust, prawny flavor. Prawns a wee bit overcooked. Noodle portion skimpy.
I thought it was pretty alright, but not so unforgettable that I’ll queue for it again. I wonder if others in the queue have the same thought. If so, the boss had better milk his cash cow as much as he can before the hype dies down!
