This stall is no longer in operation.

Little fellas, S$2.00.
Yes! I finally got my hands on a cone of these fabulous fries today!
It’s pathetic, but at long last, someone three guys have realized that what this island lacks is a classic takeaway snack of crispy, hot, chunky taters.
For ages, to get my French fries fix, the best fast-food option was Mos Burger. Forget MacDonald’s; the standard has gone down the hill. Besides, shoestring fries are so ’80s.

Other fellas waiting for their, err, fellas.
Yella Fellas is located at the revamped food hall at the basement of Bugis Junction. Maybe it’s new, or it was 3 pm on a Friday afternoon, or they need to do more marketing. Business was pretty slow when I was there.
A curious auntie was peering about the counter for 3 minutes before finally asking in Mandarin, “What are you selling, ah?” “Fried potatoes, auntie!” was the reply. After finding out the price, she hesitated before walking off. Maybe she was thinking, “Hmmph, for S$2.00 I can fry a whole kilo of potatoes!”

Time to get saucy
There’s a selection of sauces to go with your fries. Me? I picked the first one I saw. Actually, the fries tasted great on their own! Piping hot, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, full of rich, tater flavor. Beauty should be appreciated in its naked form.

Haute pommes frites available, too.
But for those who want innovation, there are fancy toppings like chilli crab and cheese with beef gravy (the poutine).
